Humacao is a small city about 30 miles southeast of San Juan. Just a 45-minute drive from San Juan's International airport. There are three routes to the house: 1) expressway, 2) through the mountains, or 3) traveling along the North and East coasts. Located high in the hills just south of Humacao, our house is situated more than 1000 feet above sea level, overlooking striking vistas of the Caribbean Sea and a towering mountain range called Chuchilla de Panduras. The surroundings are lush, verdant and tropical. Palms, citrus trees and yucca plants abide. Flowering bougainvillea, poinsettia, flamboyant and hibiscus color the hillsides. On a clear day you can see the off shore islands of Vieques, Culebra and St. Thomas, V.I., as well as 20 miles of coastline.
Puerto Rico beaches and many other tourist sites are easily reached from Humacao. Several beaches are less than 10 minutes away. You can take day trips to any part of the island and still have plenty of time to return home for a relaxing dinner and a good night's sleep. To help our guests plan a memorable, exciting Puerto Rican vacation, we've suggested 21 day trips and many points of interest that are representative of the island's diverse culture and beauty.
